Building pathways
to justice beyond
Myanmar borders.
Justice And Accountability Initiative is a membership organisation established to support collective efforts toward justice, remedy, and accountability for serious human rights violations connected to Myanmar.
We work to advance accountability through legal action, international mechanisms, advocacy, and strategic collaboration. Our efforts focus on helping affected communities pursue justice, reparations, and meaningful remedy.
WHY WE EXIST
Addressing the gap in
access to justice
Since the coup in Myanmar, millions of people have faced violence, arbitrary detention, displacement, surveillance, and the destruction of livelihoods and civic space.
At the same time, access to justice inside the country remains severely limited. Many of the actors connected to these harms including corporations, institutions, and international entities, operate across borders and jurisdictions.
Justice And Accountability Initiative was established to help address this gap by supporting pathways toward accountability beyond Myanmar’s borders.
Our work supports efforts to:
OUR FOCUS
Advance accountability for serious human rights violations
Explore pathways for
reparations and remedy
Engage international
legal and non-legal processes
Strengthen collaboration between
affected communities
and accountability actors
We believe justice should remain possible even in contexts shaped by conflict, repression, and institutional failure.
Our approach
Strategy. Collaboration. Impact.
We combine legal strategy, advocacy, research, and international engagement to support practical and community-informed accountability efforts.
Our approach focuses not only on documenting harm, but on developing mechanisms and initiatives that can contribute to tangible outcomes for affected people and communities.
